Rev. Steven Gower is a lover of God, follower of Christ, and ordained minister in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), with a Masters in Divinity from Vanderbilt Divinity School.

He grew up in Suffield, Ohio.  He attended Field School District, which is where he met his future wife Tara in fourth grade.

He also grew up as a member and regular attendee of High Street Christian Church in Akron, Ohio.  After graduating from high school, Steven went to Hiram College while Tara attended Malone University.

Steven graduated from Hiram with a degree in Religious Studies and went to further his education at Vanderbilt Divinity School in Nashville, Tennessee.  He and Tara were wed the summer before the move to Nashville.  After graduating from Vanderbilt with a Masters in Divinity and receiving the Chalice Press award for being an outstanding seminarian, Steven and Tara returned to Ohio for Tara to pursue her Masters in Social Work at Case Western Reserve University.

Steven was approved by the Christian Church in Ohio (Disciples of Christ) Commission on Ministry and was ordained in November of 2010.

On Sunday, June 3, 2012, Rev. Steven Gower received overwhelming support for becoming our settled pastor.  Rev. Gower's first sermon as our new settled pastor was on Sunday, August 5, 2012.

Steven and Tara have two wonderful children and are licensed Foster Parents.

This faithful congregation was established in 1843 and is the fourth oldest congregation in Massillon.  Our current building was constructed in 1958.  In 2001 we added a two floor addition.  The top floor is a fellowship hall/half court gym with high ceilings for volleyball and basketball.  Just off of the hall is a very nice kitchen which is great for dinners, and other community events.  These facilities are available for rental as well.

We are members of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)

We participate in the Christian Church in Ohio Disciples of Christ.
